Moses and the Art of Advice
Based on Uzi’s book, “Moses and the Art of Advice” (published December 2019)
Bible study version of “How to Give Advice and Get Back Gratitude Not Attitude” (above). We will read the biblical account (Ex. 18:13-27) and use the verses as the base for discussion.
All five skills of the Art of Advice, but with less detail than Module A.
Discussion on spirituality: how the Skills and the ‘Way of Being’ of the Art of Advice express “Love your neighbor”, and how the biblical story of Jethro giving Moses advice reflects the key aspects of the spiritual life.
Humble Hillel and the Essence of the Torah
An in-depth exploration of the Talmud’s account of Hillel and the three converts (Shabbat 31a).
While many are familiar with Hillel’s famous teaching in that story (“What you despise, don’t do to another; this is the entire Torah, the rest is commentary, go and study”), this account has so much more.
We will explore the three levels in the story. The most explicit level, which is about character; the more subtle level, which is about conversion; and the most subtle level, which is about the essence of the Torah.
There will plenty of time for discussion.
